An integrated roof and array is a roof replacement and a photovoltaic installation delivered under one contract, designed as a single envelope, with one warranty boundary covering the covering, the penetrations, the mounting system and the array. One contract means there is nobody to point at. When the roofer and the solar company are two firms, a leak around a bracket is a negotiation. When it is one contract, it is a callout. We deliver the roof and the array together, with a single warranty boundary that covers the covering, the penetrations, the mounting system and the array interface. Manufacturers have been moving this way for years — PREFA warrants both its roofing material and the base material of its mounting system, and BMI offers a system guarantee across a PV-compatible roof. We make it a contractual promise rather than a product feature.

We always show the roof scope and the PV scope as separate figures inside one contract, so you can see what you are paying for each and compare either against a standalone quote.
Array layout changes where snow guards go. Snow load changes rafter loading. Panel rows change where the valley can run. Sequencing these as two separate projects means one of them compromises the other — usually the roof, because it is finished first. Designed together, the array position, the fixing grid, the snow retention and the drainage are one drawing.
You get one document that says who is responsible for water getting in, for the array staying attached, and for the covering performing — and that party is us. Internally we still hold system guarantees from the covering and mounting manufacturers, but you are never asked to work out which one applies.
Austria is the most mature of our three markets for roof-plus-PV, and also the most demanding: the roofing trade itself is regulated, and premium homeowners expect long system guarantees and proven snow and wind fixing. It is the market where an integrated envelope is worth most, and the market where doing it badly is most visible.

See all questionsSolar-ready is the roof side of the interface: the structural capacity check, the mounting grid fitted while the roof is open, waterproofed penetrations, the cable route, fire and access provision, and a setting-out drawing. It contains no panels. Solar is the array itself — modules, inverter, DC and AC works, metering and grid application — which in Italy runs around €9,000–10,000 for a typical 4 kW residential system before incentives on published figures. We quote them separately, always, so you can see what each actually costs.
With most roofers, fitting an array afterwards means someone lifting your covering and drilling through your waterproofing — and yes, that routinely ends the roof guarantee, or at least ends any useful argument about who caused a leak. On a RoofPruf Solar-Ready Roof, we install the brackets and flash the penetrations ourselves as part of the roof, and you get written confirmation that a compliant array on those fixings leaves the roof warranty intact. Where we install both roof and array, there is one warranty boundary and one party responsible.
